New Look: Boy by Band of Outsiders

boy.jpgA woman clad in a man’s button-down shirt has always been a classic icon of sexiness, and this fall, nothing represents that idea—that you can’t get more feminine than a touch of the masculine—better than Boy by Band of Outsiders. One of many lines (Shipley & Halmos, Chris Benz, Daughters by Obedient Sons) that showed at Fall fashion week and touched on tailored menswear shapes, Boy took classics like suit jackets and Oxford shirts, tweaked and shrunk the silhouettes, and added a solid dose of Salinger-era prep to create dynamic looks. It recalled the intelligent, strong sex appeal of Katherine Hepburn, who famously wore trousers when everyone else still insisted on that outdated notion of wearing a skirt. I like the look on the right-reminiscences of Spade, who gave me a jacket of his with the sleeves cut just as above about fifteen years ago, and I wore it gladly. Now I am 62 years old
All the best to you creative ones
