All of mankind attends Design for Humanity
Billabong’s Design for Humanity swim fashion show at the Spider Club in Hollywood, June 4th
What better way to give to charity, than to ask the hippest designers and celebrities to design swimwear and throw a big party to show it off to the world? Billabong’s Design for Humanity event to kick off their amazing new swimwear line was not only an aesthetic delight, but also a pretty ragin’ party. The duds were awesome, with pieces designed by Charlotte Ronson, Nicky Hilton, Cory Kennedy and Amber Valetta to name a few.
The tunes were killer — DJ Steve Aoki pulled the usual dance-till-you’re-dead inducing drill, and MGMT wowed the crowd with their fun and freaky tunes and a performance worth jiggling to.
Back in the VIP (where you know Foam always is) there was a hilarious Skyye vodka ice sculpture bar, that at one point got completely taken over by the naughty VIPers. And a room full of hanging art by Chris Jordan, Rick Reese
and Gregory Euclide (among others) seconded as a meeting place for all the industry’s standards.
All in all, Billabong managed yet another collection that screams shopping spree, threw a rockin’ party, and a teaming up with Surfrider to continue to the fight to protect our oceans and beaches. They did it with style and, above all, humanity.—Zoe Buck
