CHECK OUT DAISY CANNON

So I saw this band play in San Juan Capistrano a few weeks back. Well, I should ‘fess up — my friend Olivia’s actually in the band. I met Olivia on the North Shore and soon found out that she not only rips at skateboarding (and longboarding) but, while we were hanging out in Hawaii, I realized just how friggin’ musically talented she is. I stayed up many a night, drinking wine and listening to her sing and jam on her guitar with my other musically talented friend, Kyla.

Anyway, a few weeks ago, I made a point to go see Olivia’s band, Daisy Cannon, play in San Juan Capistrano. What a treat. They’re a little The Shins meets Jefferson Airplane — but that’s a good thing! Boy do I love the incense and peppermint, you know? Olivia plays guitar and sings … her voice is so cool and a little haunting, even.

For those of you Southern Californians, they’re playing on Saturday, May 4 at the Whisky a Go Go in Hollywood (8901 Sunset Blvd., Hollywood, California) at 8 p.m. and on May 23 at the Jumping Turtle (1660 Capalina Rd., San Marcos, California, 92069).
